Corrections, Revisions & Reclassification
The Compendium is meant to improve over time. Better sources, corrections, debunking, or clearer explanations should make the archive stronger, not weaker.
Records are allowed to change
A case may be updated when new sources are found, older sources are corrected, a better mundane explanation appears, or a record was placed in the wrong domain.
Minor correction
Typos, formatting, wording, dates, names, or unclear phrasing.
Source upgrade
A better article, book, archive, official record, or primary document is found.
Reclassification
A case moves to a better domain, subcategory, evidence tier, or research status.
Debunked / retained
A record may remain public if the false claim itself is historically notable.
Merged record
Duplicate or overlapping cases can be joined into one cleaner record.
Removal
Records may be removed from public view if they are unsafe, invasive, or too weak to preserve publicly.
Good correction material
- Case title or URL.
- What is wrong or missing.
- Better source, link, citation, scan, or book reference.
- Whether the correction affects evidence tier or research status.
- Any privacy or safety concerns.
No embarrassment policy
Corrections are part of research. The archive should not hide reasonable revisions, but it also does not need to shame honest mistakes or source upgrades.
